When I was 7 years old I was hospitalized for 1 ½ years at North Reading Sanatorium for tuberculosis. The experience was very traumatic and turned out to color the rest of my life. After I was discharged I never talked to anyone about it and to this day worry that any illness might mean hospitalization. Almost 50 years to the date of my discharge I felt that I needed a sense of closure with my hospital experience. My mother has died and my Dad told me when he drove me away from the sanatorium 50 years ago he “closed the book” on that  chapter of our life. I have found it difficult even with the internet to find any information about this institution where my life was changed forever. I dedicate this website to all of those who have passed through this facility and are still looking for a history and explanation of a time and place that no longer exist.
